Randall has been invited to participate in Luminous Layers: Exploring Contemporary Encaustic at the 47th Annual Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, the most comprehensive exhibit of encaustic paintings and sculpture ever assembled in the Pacific Northwest. Randall is one of 15 "nationally recognized " artists invited by curator Linda Womack. There will be a juried portion of the exhibition as well featuring 30 additional encaustic artists from across the United States and Canada. Event dates: June 25, 26 & 27, 2010. Wax Actual: Contemporary Representational Work in Encaustic, featuring work by Randall Steeves and eight other artists from across North America, opens April 11th, 2009 at the Amelie Rothschild Gallery at the Creative Alliance in Baltimore, MD. The exhibition, curated by Christine Sajecki and Joseph Young, will be on view from April 8th through May 2nd.
Randall's painting Human Heart (2008) has been selected for inclusion in the Fourth Annual Encaustic Invitational at the Conrad Wilde Galley in Tucson, Arizona. The exhibition opens on March 7, 2009.
Randall's work will be featured in the Winter, 2008-2009 issue of Arc Poetry: Canada's National Poetry Magazine. Ten paintings will be reproduced throughout the issue, including the front and back covers. Arc Poetry Magazine was established in the spring of 1978 with a commitment to publish Canada’s most cutting-edge poetry and criticism and has been a constant in the Canadian literary scene ever since.
Randall's painting Ordinary Americans has been selected for inclusion in Translucent: Contemporary Works in Wax at the Cain Shulte Gallery in San Francisco, CA. The date of the opening is Friday, June 11th, 2008 from 5-7 pm, and the show runs until August 16th.
Randall has been awarded a $10,000 BC Arts Council Grant (level 2, for mid-career artists and senior practitioners) for 2008. Thanks to the BC Arts Council for your continued support.
A Solo exhibition of Randall Steeves’ encaustic paintings in Nanaimo, BC has been confirmed for 2008. The exhibition, Show Me Everything, is scheduled from May 9 to June 14 at the Nanaimo Art Gallery (Uptown).
The Elissa Cristall Gallery in Vancouver will be presenting an exhibition of new work entitled Everything Matters: New Encaustic Paintings by Randall Steeves from January 26 to February 23, 2008.
