It seemed to me that the Proper way to proceed was to focus on the connections within the work, and to try to focus on that moment of recognition. The recognition of a connection between certain elements in the work can lead to something unexpected or to the production of another painting and, if the work is intense and is moving in a direction that’s fertile, to another connection and perhaps to the production of another painting and so on.
